Job summary

Rolls-Royce is hiring a Manufacturing Services Team Member - Mechatronics in Washington (UK). The role focuses on diagnostics, repairs and maintenance of production equipment to keep lines running safely and efficiently.

You will collaborate with Manufacturing Services Leaders and Engineers, read diagrams, and implement improvements to maintenance procedures and work instructions. Training and cross-skilling are part of the role.

Qualifications

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in relevant time served apprenticeship.
  • HNC qualification preferred.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic pneumatics principles and operation.
  • Basic IT literacy.
  • Understanding of local and regional HSE Standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on manufacturing assets to ensure safety and availability.
  • Use precision diagnostic instruments for maintenance tasks.
  • Analyse equipment data to improve maintenance effectiveness.
  • Collect and analyse data to support department KPIs.
  • Read machinery drawings, schematics and manuals for maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Identify improvements to production equipment and maintenance procedures.
  • Suggest improvements to work instructions to optimise electrical installation and maintenance strategies.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance with Production Staff and Leaders.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to restore equipment performance.
  • Work with OEM engineers as required.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Manufacturing Services Team Member - Mechatronics to join our team in Washington (UK-BR).

To provide support to the Manufacturing Services Leader and Manufacturing Services Engineer to ensure the organisation’s objectives and goals are delivered. The Manufacturing Services Technician - Mechatronics is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on manufacturing assets and all associated production equipment located in production or assembly & test facilities.

What you will be doing:

  • Perform a range of routine, reactive, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks across a broad range of manufacturing assets and production equipment across a plant, site or business, to ensure that manufacturing equipment is safe, available and capable for use when required.
  • Utilise precision diagnostic instruments during maintenance.
  • Analyse equipment data to inform and implement the most effective approach towards maintenance.
  • Collect, organise, and analyse data in support of Key Performance Indicators for the Manufacturing Services Department as required.
  • Read and interpret machinery and component drawings, circuit/logic diagrams & schematics, maintenance manuals, and parts catalogues to enable maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to production equipment and maintenance procedures. Research and implement improvements.
  • Suggest improvements to work instructions to optimise the electrical installation / maintenance strategy.
  • Coordinate preventive and planned corrective maintenance activities with Production Staff, regularly communicating and interfacing with Production Leaders, Team Leaders, and Production Operators.

  • Work with site Manufacturing Engineers to help understand and restore equipment performance to standard.
  • Work alongside/support equipment OEM engineers as required.
  • Consistently perform asset maintenance activities in order to ensure that equipment and facilities are safe and reliable to a high performance standard.
  • Support the effective induction of new team members and support cross-training of other team members.
  • Utilise problem solving skills and ability to make sound recommendations based on judgement, training and previous experience.
  • Able to process Work Orders and pull reports from the Computerised Maintenance Management System.
  • Safely operate site specific equipment as require med with appropriate training.

Preferred requirements:

  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in relevant time served apprenticeship.
