Job summary

Rolls-Royce in Derby is seeking a Manufacturing Services Instruments Technician to join our team. The role focuses on diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on manufacturing assets and production equipment in our production and test facilities.

You will read drawings, operate diagnostics, and work with Manufacturing Engineers to restore equipment performance. NVQ level 3 or equivalent is required; basic IT literacy and HSE knowledge are expected.

Qualifications

  • Diagnostics, repairs and preventive maintenance of manufacturing assets.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, circuit/logic diagrams and maintenance manuals.
  • Basic IT literacy and understanding of local and regional HSE standards and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine, reactive, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks across a broad range of manufacturing assets and production equipment.
  • Utilise precision diagnostic instruments during maintenance.
  • Analyse equipment data to inform and implement effective maintenance approaches.
  • Read and interpret machinery drawings, schematics and maintenance manuals to enable maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Identify improvements to production equipment and maintenance procedures; implement changes.

This role will provide support to the Manufacturing Services Leader and Manufacturing Services Engineer to ensure the organisation's objectives and goals are delivered. The Manufacturing Services Technician - Mechatronics is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on manufacturing assets and all associated production equipment located in production or assembly & test facilities.


Key Accountabilities:


  • Perform a range of routine, reactive, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks across a broad range of manufacturing assets and production equipment across a plant, site or business, to ensure that manufacturing equipment is safe, available and capable for use when required.

  • Utilise precision diagnostic instruments during maintenance.

  • Analyse equipment data to inform and implement the most effective approach towards maintenance

  • Collect, organise, and analyse data in support of Key Performance Indicators for the Manufacturing Services Department as required.

  • Read and interpret machinery and component drawings, circuit/logic diagrams & schematics, maintenance manuals, and parts catalogues to enable maintenance and diagnostics

  • Identify and recommend improvements to production equipment and maintenance procedures. Research and implement improvements.

  • Suggest improvements to work instructions to optimise the electrical installation / maintenance strategy

  • Coordinate preventive and planned corrective maintenance activities with Production Staff, regularly communicating and interfacing with Production Leaders, Team Leaders, and Production Operators.

  • Work with site Manufacturing Engineers to help understand and restore equipment performance to standard.

  • Work alongside/support equipment OEM engineers as required

  • Consistently perform asset maintenance activities in order to ensure that equipment and facilities are safe and reliable to a high performance standard.

  • Support the effective induction of new team members and support cross-training of other team members.

  • Utilise problem solving skills and ability to make sound recommendations based on judgement, training and previous experience.

  • Able to process Work Orders and pull reports from the Computerised Maintenance Management System

  • Safely operate site specific equipment as require med with appropriate training


Qualifications:


  • NVQ level 3 or equivalent in relevant time served apprenticeship

  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic pneumatics principles and operation

  • Basic IT literacy

  • Understanding of local and regional HSE Standards and regulations
