Job Description

Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Project Engineer to lead the launch of new products for their valued customers. This is an exciting opportunity to manage complex projects, work with cross-functional teams, and drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes while advancing your engineering career.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the manufacturing launch of new products for key customers
  • Develop, manage, and track project budgets and timelines
  • Communicate project status to customers, ensuring trust, confidence, and reputation as a top-tier supplier
  • Provide project updates to internal stakeholders, cross-functional team members, and leadership at each milestone of the New Product Introduction (NPI) process
  • Proactively identify and resolve project risks, including technical, cost, safety, and timing risks
  • Engineer and implement new manufacturing processes to ensure products meet print specifications consistently
  • Create and maintain engineering data and documents, including drawings, Bills-of-Material, Routings, Standard Rates, Process FMEA, Work Instructions, and Quality Control Plans
  • Collaborate with Tooling Engineers and Designers to design, build, and validate tooling and quality control gauges
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and contribute to the development of new manufacturing technologies or processes

Job-Specific Competencies:

  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, including Laser Cutting, Press Brake, Metal Stamping, MIG and Projection Welding, and Complex Assemblies
  • Expertise in Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks, CAD sheet metal design, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Lean Manufacturing/Six Sigma
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve complex problems and drive process improvement
  • Strong relationship-building skills

Experience and Education Required:

  • BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering
  • Direct manufacturing experience and proficiency in the skills outlined above
  • 5-7 years Project management experience

Working Conditions:

  • In-office position with occasional remote work by exception
  • Sitting, standing, walking, and climbing stairs required
  • Travel up to 20%
