Job description

Experienced Manufacturing Process Engineer required to play a key role in designing, developing, and optimising manufacturing processes across end-to-end production from sheet metal to paint and final assembly. Your work will drive efficiency, quality, and innovation while supporting the introduction of new products into production (NPI).

A strong foundation in manual assembly, process documentation, and cross-functional collaboration is essential and experience with robotics and automation would be of benefit.

Our client is a leading manufacturer in the Yellow Goods industry, producing equipment that powers essential operations worldwide. As part of their ongoing growth, they are seeking a skilled Process Engineer to join their Manufacturing Engineering team. Manufacturing Process Engineer Role:

Process Development & NPI Support
Design manufacturing processes and layouts from scratch.
Improve existing workflows using modern, cost-effective methods.
Ensure new product designs are production-ready and manufacturable.
Conduct time studies and process analysis from first principles.

CAD & Layout Optimisation
Create and update 2D CAD layouts for manufacturing cells and equipment.
Optimise factory space and workflow alignment with practical implementation.

Process Documentation & Risk Management
Develop SOPs, work instructions, PFMEAs, and process flows.
Conduct risk assessments in collaboration with Health & Safety.
Ensure process changes and NPI introductions are documented and controlled.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
Work closely with engineering, quality, production, and stores teams.
Facilitate smooth integration of improvements and new processes.
Deliver projects on time and within budget through effective stakeholder coordination.

Manual Assembly & Automation
Apply hands-on manual assembly experience to process development.
Investigate automation opportunities to increase productivity.

Manufacturing Process Engineer Requirements:

5+ years in process engineering within automotive or heavy manufacturing (Yellow Goods preferred).
Strong knowledge of process creation, optimisation, and layout design.
Proficient in 2D CAD (Draftsight), Siemens NX, and Microsoft Office.
Proven ability to write PFMEAs and conduct risk assessments.
Experience in supporting NPI from prototype to production.
Solid experience with manual assembly processes.
Desirable knowledge of automation (robotics, PLCs, material handling systems).

Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Strong team player who can work independently and cross-functionally.
Familiar with lean manufacturing principles.

Desirable Skills:
Experience with virtual CAD layout design.
Background in the Yellow Goods or heavy machinery sector.
Understanding of automated manufacturing systems.
