Job summary

Evtec Automotive is seeking a Manufacturing & Process Engineer to develop, optimise and sustain robust manufacturing processes that ensure product quality, efficiency, safety and cost effectiveness in a fast-paced automotive environment.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will contribute to new product introduction, production readiness and day-to-day manufacturing activities, with a focus on continuous improvement and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in manufacturing or process engineering in automotive or high-volume production.

Responsibilities

  • Support product industrialisation from prototype to full-scale production; specify tooling, fixtures and equipment for new/modified processes.
  • Conduct robust trial builds and production readiness assessments to ensure smooth launches.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions and SOPs.
  • Implement process controls for repeatability and quality standards compliance.
  • Specify, procure, install and validate manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Support production volume, quality and customer-specific requirements through equipment performance.
  • Lead Kaizen events, root cause analysis and structured problem solving (8D, 5 Whys, DMAIC).
  • Participate in PFMEA, quality history reviews and robustness studies.
  • Mentor less experienced engineers and provide structured technical coaching.

The role of Manufacturing & Process Engineer

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Manufacturing and Process Engineer is responsible for developing, optimising and sustaining robust manufacturing processes that deliver product quality, operational efficiency, safety and cost effectiveness. The role supports new product introduction, continuous improvement, production readiness and day-to-day manufacturing activities within a fast-paced automotive environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support product industrialisation from prototype through to full-scale production, including the specification of tooling, fixtures and equipment for new or modified processes.
  • Ensure smooth launch through robust trial builds and production readiness assessments.
  • Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Implement process controls to ensure repeatability and maintain compliance with quality standards.
  • Specify, procure, install and validate manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Ensure equipment performance supports production volume, quality and other specific requirements as outlined by the customer.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct time studies, line balancing and process capability analysis to support productivity and quality improvements.
  • Lead and participate in Kaizen events, root cause analysis and structured problem-solving activities, including 8D, 5 Whys and DMAIC.
  • Participate in Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), quality history reviews and robustness studies.
  • Take a proactive approach to identifying issues, developing practical solutions and thinking creatively.
  • Manage multiple tasks effectively, prioritising workload to meet business and customer requirements.
  • Support less experienced engineers through mentoring, knowledge sharing and structured technical coaching.
  • Maintain a hands-on, practical approach and remain calm when responding to production, quality or launch-related issues.
Key Performance Objectives
  • Deliver assigned projects in line with APQP and programme gateway timing.
  • Support measurable improvements in safety, quality, delivery, cost and efficiency.
  • Complete tooling design approval to agreed customer and supplier milestones.
What We’re Looking For
  • Essential: Proven experience in a manufacturing or process engineering role, ideally within an automotive or high-volume production environment.
  • Essential: Good understanding of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Essential: Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications and customer requirements.
  • Essential: Strong communication and cross-functional working skills.
  • Essential: HNC/HND or degree-level qualification in Engineering, or equivalent practical experience in a manufacturing engineering environment.
  • Desirable: Previous experience working within a Tier 1 automotive supplier or IATF 16949 environment.
  • Desirable: Experience working with PLC-controlled equipment, automated manufacturing systems or production tooling
