Job description

The Plant Manager / Factory Operations Manager is working with a UK market leader in the FMCG industry, manufacturing high-volume products with automated processes. The Manufacturing Plant Manager will help transform a key factory from good to great, working with a dedicated team to drive improvements and future development in the Basildon area.

The group has been profitable and has undergone significant structural changes recently, including leadership changes, investment, and capacity expansion across the UK supply chain.

Roles and responsibilities:

You will be an experienced Operations/Factory/Manufacturing/Plant Manager with a proven record of enhancing culture, efficiency, and productivity. You understand what world-class operations look like and have led similar improvement journeys, demonstrating tangible results. You recognize the influence of leadership on culture and the impact of culture on processes.

Key requirements:

  • Proven experience managing manufacturing operations in automated or semi-automated environments
  • Extensive use of lean and CI tools like OEE, TPM, 5S, VSM to improve efficiency
  • Experience managing budgets and capex
  • Knowledge of engineering maintenance and plant improvements (preferred but not essential)
  • Strong commitment to health and safety, ideally with formal qualifications (training available)
