JOB DESCRIPTION
A1 Personnel are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Operations Manager to take charge of the day-to-day running of our client sites in Hereford and Telford, overseeing production, machine operatives, and production staff. Your focus will be on ensuring efficient workflows, meeting production targets, maintaining safety and quality standards, and driving ongoing improvements.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Lead and manage all operational activities across both sites
Oversee production planning and job scheduling
Ensure efficient machine and resource utilisation
Maintain high levels of product quality through inspections and process control
Drive and implement continuous improvement initiatives
Provide leadership, coaching, and development for production teams
Manage HR matters including staffing, training, and performance reviews
Enforce health, safety, and environmental regulations
Monitor machine maintenance schedules and production downtime
Support other departments and operational needs as required
Oversee site services (pest control, fire safety, waste management, etc.)
REQUIREMENTS
Proven experience in manufacturing or production management
Strong leadership and team management abilities
Confident in problem-solving and decision-making under pressure
Knowledge of quality control and safety regulations
Proficiency in MS Office and production planning tools
Excellent communication, organisation, and time management skills
Ability to work across multiple locations and manage site-specific needs
DESIRABLE
Background in engineering or machinery operation
Experience managing changeovers and maintenance scheduling
Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
