Job Summary:

As Ruggable's UK Manufacturing Manager, you will take ownership of all production activities in our facility in Birmingham. You will manage day-to-day production activities, employing lean practices to develop an exceptional team focused on safety, quality, cost, delivery, and people. In addition, you will work closely with the maintenance, supply chain, HR, IT, and warehouse teams to identify areas of improvement and help build best practices. You will be expected to take ownership of initiatives or projects outside your area, drive change, and use this to improve your operational KPIs.

As a key member of the plant management team, you will be responsible for fostering a culture of safety, continuous improvement, operational excellence, and inclusivity. You will be the go-to person for all production activities. You will have a high degree of emotional intelligence and self awareness, able to foster a positive, inclusive, and value driven culture. What You'll Do:

  • Hire, train, coach, and lead Team leaders, senior operators, and associates
  • Role model safety protocols followed at the facility, participate in planning personnel safety and plant protection activities while driving plant safety culture
  • Oversee activities of the operations team, including plant start-up and shut-down
  • Maintain strong relationships with the Marketing, and customer experience teams to ensure our value of customer first is always achieved
  • Manage order processing with your team to ensure aged orders are kept to a minimum and FIFO is upheld
  • Manage the Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and People KPIs for the plant
  • Identify and implement via projects, new opportunities to improve performance and productivity
  • Work with a sense of urgency to ensure that operational plans are executed, performance and budget goals are achieved, and teams are kept informed and coordinated across functions
  • Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of production activities with other functions such as maintenance, warehouse, and supply chain
  • Allocate resources effectively, fully utilize assets to produce optimal results, and trigger corrective actions when necessary
  • Demonstrate a lean mindset, particularly in driving down defects and wastage to the target level
  • Contribute to overall business planning, including weekly forecasting processes, and sales volume peaks

What You'll Need to Have:

Required:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a production management role, with warehousing and supply chain exposure
  • Strong presence and communication skills, both oral and written, with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to develop and improve site leaders, teams, and KPI performance
  • Strong emotional intelligence, self awareness, and coaching skills
  • Leadership or management qualification or time served experience
  • Lean manufacturing qualification or time served experience
  • Demonstrated experience in driving improvements in KPI performance and people development over a sustained period
