Job summary

Gap Personnel Limited is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead the finance function within a manufacturing operation in Devon. The role focuses on strengthening controls, delivering robust management accounts and partnering with senior teams on commercial decisions.

Candidates will bring manufacturing finance experience, strong budgeting and forecasting skills, and a hands-on, proactive approach to ownership. ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualifications are advantageous but not mandatory.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Financial Controller, Finance Manager or in a similar senior finance position.
• Previous experience within manufacturing and a good understanding of stock, costing and operational finance.
• Strong management accounting, budgeting and forecasting skills.
• Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail and confidence using Excel and financial systems.
• The ability to communicate clearly and build relationships across the business.
• A proactive, hands-on approach and confidence taking ownership.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day financial management and maintain strong internal controls.
• Produce accurate management accounts and manage month-end closing.
• Manage budgets, forecasts and cash flow.
• Analyse costs, margins and financial performance to identify risks and opportunities.
• Collaborate with manufacturing/operations on costs, stock valuation and variance analysis.
• Improve financial systems, reporting and processes.
• Support business planning and investment decisions.
• Coordinate year-end reporting and liaise with external accountants.
