Job summary

Hewett Recruitment is seeking an experienced Financial Controller for a Malvern-based manufacturing business. You will report to the Finance Director, lead a finance team, and drive day-to-day financial management and controls across the group.

The role collaborates with operations and supports commercial and strategic projects. The ideal candidate will be fully qualified (CIMA/ACCA), with manufacturing costing expertise, and a hands-on, commercially focused approach.

Qualifications

• Fully qualified CIMA or ACCA essential.
• Experience as Financial Controller or senior finance leader.
• Manufacturing background required.
• Strong costing, stock and inventory knowledge.
• Proven team management experience.
• Advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to work with both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel UK and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly management accounts and report to local management and group.
• Manage stock costing system, inventory valuation, variance analysis and stock takes.
• Lead budget prep including standard costing and overhead absorption.
• Prepare governance reporting with exposure to the Group Board.
• Oversee payroll across UK, Ireland and Czech Republic; pensions, year-end, and P11Ds.
• Prepare quarterly VAT returns.
• Oversee purchase ledger, supplier payments and credit control.
• Support audits and corporation tax matters; maintain robust controls.

Financial Controller

Malvern based

Are you an experienced Financial Controller with a strong manufacturing background looking for a varied, hands-on role where you can have a real impact on the wider business?

We are working with an established medium-sized manufacturing organisation based in Malvern, which forms part of a large Group, to recruit an experienced Financial Controller.

Reporting directly to the Finance Director and managing a finance team, this is a key role within the local management team. You'll be responsible for the day-to-day financial management and controls of the business while working closely with operational teams and supporting a variety of commercial and strategic projects.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts and reporting to both the local management team and group
• Managing the stock costing system, including inventory valuation, production variance analysis and stock takes
• Budget preparation, including standard costing and overhead absorption
• Preparation of governance reporting, with exposure to the Group Board
• Responsibility for payroll across the UK, Ireland and Czech Republic, including pensions, year-end requirements and P11Ds
• Preparation of quarterly VAT returns
• Oversight of purchase ledger, supplier payments, expenses and credit control
• Acting as the main point of contact for external and internal audits and corporation tax matters
• Maintaining and developing robust financial controls and processes across the business
• Playing a key role in an ERP implementation project
• Supporting wider business requirements including statutory reporting, insurance renewals, employee benefits and ad-hoc financial analysis

To be considered for this role, you will ideally have:

• CIMA or ACCA qualification (Fully qualified essential)
• Previous Financial Controller or similar senior finance leader experience
• A background within manufacturing
• Strong knowledge of standard costing, stock and inventory
• Previous team management experience
• Advanced Excel skills
• A hands-on and commercially focused approach
• The ability to work effectively with both finance and non-finance stakeholders
• Flexibility to undertake occasional UK and international travel
