Job summary

GKN Aerospace Services Limited at Filton is seeking a Manufacturing Tooling Engineer to plan and modify fixtures, tools and processes, resolving production issues and documenting work on assigned parts.

You will develop tooling processes, apply SPC/PFMEA, analyze tool flows for quality and cost reductions, and coordinate tool inspections while collaborating with multiple functions.

Qualifications

• Relevant plant tooling experience required.
• Proficient IT skills including ERP systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Develop, evaluate, improve and document Tooling processes.
• Develop and implement process control techniques including work instructions using tools such as SPC, PFMEA.
• Analyze Tooling process flows continually for improvements in quality, cost, and lead-time.
• Collaborate with other functions to ensure effective Tooling solutions.
• Coordinate Tool inspection procedures with multidisciplinary teams.
• Address and document root cause and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Determine required materials and tools to meet manufacturing demands.

At our GKN Filton site, we specialise in the design and manufacture of large complex structural wing assemblies, detailed metallic components and wing systems for a combination of both civil and military aircraft. We have an new exciting and career defining opportunity for a Manufacturing Tooling Engineer to join the team. The successful applicant will perform a variety of engineering duties in planning and modifying fixtures, tools and manufacturing processes. How You'll Contribute We're looking for someone with the ability to resolve production issues in a timely manner completing all documentation on assigned parts. As well as:

• Develop, evaluate, improve and documents Tooling processes
• Develop and implement process control techniques including work instructions using tools such as SPC, PFMEA
• Analyse Tooling process flows continually for the improvements of quality, cost reduction, lead-time reduction for new work
• Collaborate with other functions to ensure effective Tooling solutions
• Coordinate Tool inspection procedures with multifunctional teams
• Address and document cause and corrective action issues to prevent future problem occurrences
• Determine required material and tools to meet manufacturing demands
  The successful applicant will be proactive in their approach and seek out opportunity to contribute, the ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders is also an essential part of this role.

In addition, you'll need the following skills

Essential:

• Relevant plant tooling experience
• Proficient IT skills (ideally ERP system, Office packages etc)

Desirable:

• Tool making experience
• Experience in a similar role
