Job Summary

The Quality Engineer will provide engineering capability to operational and development programs to enable and deliver zero defect projects utilizing engineering and problem-solving skills. They will be accountable for delivering robust manufacturing process technology related to materials, tooling, part fabrication, and assembly.

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for creating, maintaining, and improving Program Quality Plans.
  • Perform root cause analysis, preventative and corrective actions to eliminate non-conformances using the GKN standard Zero Defect Manufacturing (ZDM) tool suite.
  • Manage product development, customer quality requirements, and first article development.
  • Conduct supplier audits and assessments.
  • Exemplify a safety-first mindset and ensure compliance with GKN Aerospace Health, Safety, and Environmental policies and standards.
  • Develop technical solutions to complex problems within GKN Aerospace, customers, and suppliers.
  • Support manufacturing process development and integration for production.
  • Use root cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce non-conformances.
  • Maintain positive team relationships with internal and external customers and colleagues.

Job Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • At least 1 year of Quality Engineering experience, including root cause analysis and corrective actions, with knowledge of composites manufacturing or university coursework in composite materials.
  • Ability to work under ITAR/EAR regulations and program requirements.

Additional Qualifications:

  • GKN experience
  • Knowledge of quality systems like ISO9000, AS9100, or D1-9000
  • Training or experience in lean tools and techniques (Practical Problem Solving, A3, PFMEA, Fishbone diagrams)
  • Experience with Lean activities
  • Experience in composites manufacturing, including academic studies
  • Project or program management skills
  • Familiarity with AS9145 APQP process or similar
  • Strong communication skills, both written and spoken in English
