Job description

Manufacturing Engineer - Wellingborough - Up to £39/hr - Outside IR35 - Contract

To be successful in this role, you must bring proven, hands-on experience in low to medium volume CNC machining processes, ideally gained in an automotive manufacturing environment. Just as important is your ability to identify opportunities for improvement and drive change on the production line.

What You Will Do:

  • Define and implement manufacturing processes for new production lines, ensuring efficiency and adherence to engineering standards.
  • Identify and introduce innovative technologies to future-proof manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee the installation and optimisation of new equipment, including CNC machines and sub-assembly systems such as pressure testing, washing, and part marking.
  • Evaluate and improve existing manufacturing systems, driving cost reductions and continuous improvements through lean principles.
  • Create and maintain essential process documentation, including Process Sheets, FMEA, Process Flow, and APQP.
  • Lead problem-solving initiatives using recognised techniques such as PPS and DMAIC to address challenges and enhance processes.

What You Will Bring:

  • HND/Degree in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering (or equivalent) preferred, or a recognised engineering apprenticeship with extensive experience in a production environment.
  • Proven expertise in low to medium volume machining processes, ideally within the automotive sector.
  • Experiencemaking improvements to existing production lines.
  • Hands-on experience with CNC programming, cutting tools, and manual programming.
  • Strong knowledge of sub-assembly processes and familiarity with CAD/CAM software.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
