Division info:

The Landing Gear Market division specializes in designing, qualifying, manufacturing, repairing, and overhauling landing gears and flight-critical components for a customer base that includes OEMs and operators in both commercial and military markets.

Summary of position:

Reporting to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager, this role offers an opportunity to work with and develop within a leading Aircraft Landing Gear manufacturer. The core focus is to define, support, and continuously improve manufacturing methods to ensure Héroux Devtek’s products are produced safely, with the highest quality, and optimal efficiency.

The role involves creating, modifying, and maintaining manufacturing plans and bills of materials for both OEM and MRO workstreams using the company ERP system. It includes providing manufacturing support through rework instructions and corrective actions, designing and modifying tooling and fixtures for landing gear assembly, and participating in continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives. The role also supports manufacturing and engineering investigations as needed.

Main responsibilities:

  • Creating, amending, and improving manufacturing instructions and methods.
  • Developing, implementing, and using the Infor LN ERP system for planning, including creating manufacturing routings and Bills of Materials.
  • Collaborating with the Design Engineering Team to develop and modify rework schemes for recurring MRO repairs.
  • Generating production plans for plating processes such as Cadmium, Nickel, and Chrome.
  • Supporting New Product Introduction through participation in design reviews, identifying new tooling and fixture requirements, creating product structures within the ERP system, and conducting process risk analysis and PFMEAs.
  • Providing daily support on the shop floor for manufacturing teams regarding manufacturing, assembly, and hydraulic testing issues.

Qualifications:

  • A solid foundation in manufacturing engineering practices and processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering/technical drawings for machining.
  • Experience with SolidWorks for tool and fixture design.
  • Knowledge of processing and plating techniques such as Chrome, HVOF, Nickel, Zinc Nickel, and Cadmium.
  • Experience with hydraulic actuation systems.
  • Familiarity with BaaN or similar ERP systems is a plus.
