Qualifications

Manthorpe Building Productsis a leading designer, manufacturer and supplier of plastic injection moulded, vacuum formed and extruded products for the building industry.

The purpose of the role is to design, implement, optimize, and maintain manufacturing processes and systems to produce high-quality products efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively. Continuing to learn skills to further develop and carry out various tasks, whilst being fully compliant to all corporate and legislative standards and guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test new manufacturing processes, equipment, and tooling for new products.
  • Create detailed process plans, work instructions, and assembly procedures.
  • Create and keep up to date site layout plans using CAD software.
  • Specify and select appropriate manufacturing technologies and equipment. (CAPEX)
  • Implement new processes onto the production floor, including equipment installation and commissioning.
  • Identify and lead continuous improvement (CI) initiatives (e.g., Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, improve quality, and lower costs.
  • Analyse data to identify potential issues which may affect performance and present viable solutions to rectify these.
  • Collaborate with the quality department to establish quality standards, inspection criteria, and testing methods.
  • Investigate root causes of product defects and implement corrective or preventive actions. while Optimize material usage to minimize scrap and rework.
  • Ensure processes comply with industry standards ISO 9001 and safety regulations.
  • Conduct FAIRS, ESL and MSL protocols, on new product introduction.
  • Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities related to materials, labour, energy, and overheads.
  • Evaluate and justify capital equipment expenditures (CAPEX) linked to project management tools and techniques.
  • Define an Industry 4.0 strategy for the business, digital transformation linked to automation, AGV.s/AMR’s linked to the principles of lean.
  • Design or specify jigs, fixtures, gauges, and tooling to improve ergonomics, quality, and throughput.
  • Identify opportunities for automation to improve safety, quality, and efficiency.
  • Specify, integrate, and program automated equipment where necessary.
  • Prepare technical reports, project updates, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Taking the lead on engineering change process and drawing understanding.
  • Ensures strict compliance with corporate HSQE goals and compliance objectives.
  • Comply with company and statutory Quality, Health and Safety, Environmental and other policies, and procedures.
  • Assist in identifying areas of improvement within your area, promoting continuous improvement activities, to help eliminate waste and improve safety, engagement & efficiency.

Skills & Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of core manufacturing processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD software for tooling/fixture design & data analysis tools
  • Knowledge of engineering materials and their properties.
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with automation, robotics, PLCs, and industrial control systems.
  • Lean Manufacturing GBS (Value Stream Mapping, 6S, Kanban, SMED).
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Adaptability and continuous learning mindset.
  • Holding a Degree In manufacturing Engineer field or closely related field.
  • Six Sigma, Yellow or Green Belt.
  • IOSH – Managing Safety
  • NEBOSH- General Cert
