Job summary

Multimatic in Thetford, Norfolk is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer with 5+ years of production experience, preferably in automotive. You will evaluate processes, design and implement manufacturing methods, and develop equipment and tooling for production lines.

Responsibilities include DFA/DFM input for new and existing designs, creating process flows and layouts, PFMEAs, and production documentation. Strong problem-solving, cost awareness, and quality system knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

  • Engineering qualification is required.
  • Minimum 5 years working in a production environment, preferably automotive.
  • CAD modelling skills are essential.
  • Programming is beneficial: C++, C#, LUA, VBA; PLC knowledge is a plus.
  • Computer literacy with Windows and Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate manufacturing processes by applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials.
  • Develop manufacturing processes by studying product requirements; researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with equipment vendors and operatives.
  • Participate in new projects, prototype builds, providing DFA/DFM input to new and existing product design, creating process flow, layout and industrialization plan.
  • Design and make new equipment, tools, fixtures, integrating them into production line, and improving existing ones.
  • Create and maintain PFMEAs, work instructions and other production related documentation.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Prepare product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarising information and trends.
  • Coordinate maintenance and repair services to keep equipment operational; follow manufacturer instructions and established procedures.
  • Maintain product and process database and reporting accordingly.
  • Complete design and development projects by training and guiding technicians.
  • Investigate and solve production issues and implement improvements to enhance efficiency.
  • Support and adhere to ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 quality policies.
