Job summary

Thales in Templecombe, United Kingdom, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Industrial Process Engineering team. You will support manufacturing operations, drive continuous improvement, and collaborate with Engineering, Projects, Procurement and Production to optimise processes, layouts and documentation.

Key activities include leading PRRs, assessing MRLs, and supporting Design for Manufacture while ensuring health, safety and environmental compliance across programmes in high-tech

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process development and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation and production data.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Experience supporting production, quality and engineering teams within a complex technical environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Engineering, Manufacturing or a related discipline is desirable.

  • Leading Production Readiness Reviews (PRRs) and preparing all associated manufacturing data.
  • Assessing Manufacturing Readiness Levels (MRLs) to identify and mitigate manufacturing risks.
  • Defining, developing and optimising manufacturing processes, tooling and production layouts.
  • Creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation, workflows and ERP production data.
  • Supporting Design for Manufacture activities across engineering and project teams.
  • Acting as the manufacturing representative at Material Review Boards (MRBs) and Configuration Control Boards (CCBs).
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce costs, improve efficiency and enhance product quality.
  • Identifying opportunities for capital investment through cost-benefit and ROI analysis.
  • Supporting supply chain activities as an Industrial Subject Matter Expert.
  • Ensuring manufacturing processes comply with Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.

We are currently seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Industrial Process Engineering team in Templecombe. This is an exciting opportunity to support critical programmes and play a key role in developing, optimising and sustaining manufacturing processes for complex, high-technology products.

What the role has to offer

As Manufacturing Engineer, you will provide day-to-day technical support to manufacturing operations while driving continuous improvement across products and processes. Working closely with Engineering, Projects, Procurement and Production teams, you'll help ensure products are designed and manufactured efficiently, safely and cost-effectively.

About you

We're looking for an engineer who enjoys solving problems, improving processes and working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.

You’ll ideally have:

  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process development and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience creating and maintaining manufacturing documentation and production data.
  • Understanding of Design for Manufacture (DfM) principles.
