A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join a global manufacturing organisation, offering flexibility to support ongoing production issues and lead continuous improvement manufacturing projects.

Manufacturing Engineer

Location: West Midlands (commutable from Wolverhampton, Walsall, Telford, Shrewsbury, Stafford, Cannock areas)

Salary: £45,000 - £50,000 + benefits

Our client is a specialist manufacturer, supplying complex metallic products and assemblies for the automotive industry. This year, they plan several key product launches, continued investment in the production facility, and an increase in volumes with further growth planned.

Job Description:
  1. Oversee continuous improvement & lean manufacturing initiatives to improve plant efficiency and performance.
  2. Specify production facilities and capital equipment; make vendor recommendations.
  3. Implement manufacturing process improvements to optimise performance and capability.
  4. Lead machine PFMEA processes for existing and new capital investment programmes.
  5. Review and improve SOPs, process instructions, flow, standard operations, and capability.
  6. Support New Product Development (NPI) initiatives and DFM/DFA.
  7. Optimize process flow and minimise waste using MTM, line balancing, VSM, and lean methods.
Experience:
  • Proven experience as a Senior Manufacturing Engineer, Senior Industrial Engineer, or Manufacturing Engineering Manager within high-volume mechanical manufacturing.
  • Degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering or similar technical subject.
  • Experience leading capital equipment projects, including specification, cost justification, vendor management, and successful NPI launch.
  • Lead PFMEA processes.
  • Project management and supplier/vendor liaison experience.
  • Experience with production processes such as plastic moulding, stamping, cold rolling, casting, forging, CNC machining, or large automated/robotic assembly.
  • Effective communication skills for team liaison.
  • Hands-on problem solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.
