Manufacturing Engineer - Port Glasgow

Objective of the position:

The Manufacturing Engineer develops, implements, and maintains methods, operation sequence and processes in the manufacture or fabrication of parts, components, sub-assemblies and final assemblies. They will interface with design engineering in coordinating the release of new products, estimate manufacturing cost, determine time standards and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.

Estimates manufacturing labor and cost, determines time standards, edits and maintains reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations. Create/edit production Product Work Instructions and related SOPs.

Person required to play an integral role in the transition of new products into sustaining production (NPI) and ongoing sustaining support to include Process Support and Process quality responsibilities.

Nature of Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Designing manufacturing processes within schedule and budgetary parameters
  • Implementing and evaluating proposed designs and processes for manufacturability
  • Troubleshooting process related issues and fine tuning processes to eliminate process-induced defects
  • Implementing statistical process analysis on new and existing products
  • Analyzes and plans work force utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency in accordance with lean manufacturing principles.
  • New product introduction and sustaining product process improvements
  • Reviewing rejects to develop process improvements that eliminate scrap
  • Generates purchase requisitions to obtain equipment/supplies and/or replenish inventory as required
  • Ensures that molding equipment meets specifications, schedules and budgets.
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise and resolve Injection Molding problems using strong systematic approaches.

Education and Experience:

  • Hands-on, practical experience with electromechanical assembly box builds
  • 4 Year degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in Electronics Manufacturing Environment
  • 2-4 years directly related experience, specifically in an electronic manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge/experience with CAD packages (i.e. Solidworks)
  • Experience in Oracle or ERP system
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
