Job summary

Mansell Recruitment Group is seeking a Junior Manufacturing Engineer to move from shop floor exposure toward an eventual management role. The role suits someone with fabrication/machining workshop experience and a proactive approach to improving processes and safety.

Key tasks include technical guidance for customers and staff, assisting with designs, quoting jobs, and coordinating orders and supplier tasks. 39 hours/week, with a Friday half-day, and salary £35k–£40k depending on experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years experience in an engineering workshop
• Time served Apprenticeship in milling/turning/toolmaking/fabrication
• Ideally HNC, but minimum Level 3 qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
• Preferable CAD and design experience (Inventor or Solidworks)

Responsibilities

• Technical advice and guidance both for customers and shop floor staff
• Aiding in the design of customer requirements ranging from individual components up to complete mechanical systems and machines
• Quoting jobs and customer liaison, developing into complete customer account management
• Processing orders, purchasing material, organising job packs etc.
• Streamlining and improving existing processes in machining, fabrication etc.
• Helping to maintain safety and quality standards
• Assisting with the QMS and organising suppliers for recurring tasks (calibration, fire safety, machine servicing etc.)

My client are seeking someone who's looking for that first step away from the shop floor and into an eventual management role. Ideally you will have 5+ years experience working in a workshop in a fabrication/machining environment.
