PE Global is currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer for a leading multi-national manufacturing client based in Peterborough.
This is an initial 9 month contract position working on site 5 days a week.
Pay rate is £28.45ph PAYE or £38.96ph Umbrella.
Total: 37 hours/week
Flexibility required based on production demands:
Early starts / late finishes occasionally. Possible Friday afternoons or Saturdays for critical activities
We are looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to support the development, improvement and delivery of manufacturing processes across Assembly and Final Assembly value streams. This 9-month contract role will focus on driving safety, quality, velocity and cost improvements, delivering manufacturing projects, supporting New Product Introduction activities, and providing technical support for process development, equipment improvements and manufacturing system capability.
Duties of the role/Responsibilities
- Provide technical expertise and guidance on manufacturing projects across Assembly and Final Assembly, supporting productivity, efficiency, cost improvements and successful product introduction.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver process design, PFMEA, control plans, standard work and documentation.
- Support manufacturing improvement, development and New Product Introduction projects from initiation through to implementation, managing scope, resources, timing and delivery.
- Develop and implement process improvements, ensuring safe installation, robust operation and compliance with quality, safety and customer requirements.
- Work with engineering teams, suppliers and stakeholders to implement best manufacturing practices, optimise design for manufacture and support industrialisation of new and existing products.
- Monitor equipment and process reliability, identify problem areas, and support effective resolution of manufacturing issues.
- Support prototype, pilot, and validation build phases, ensuring issues are resolved between gateways.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering on Design for Manufacturing and change management.
- Identify and implement enhancements to manufacturing equipment, tooling, automation and production processes.
Education/Experience
- Strong manufacturing engineering experience within a production, assembly or industrial environment.
- Experience working on technical, industrialisation or New Product Introduction projects, with the ability to manage priorities, risks and delivery milestones.
- Good understanding of process control tools such as PFMEA, control plans, standard work and validation activities.
- Excellent communication, collaboration and stakeholder management skills.
- Desirable: CAD tools (CATIA or similar) PLM systems (Siemens Teamcenter)
- Nice-to-have (not essential): Exposure to simulation tools (e.g., Plant Simulation)
- Manufacturing / Engineering environment
- Preferred: Automotive or similar high-volume production experience
- Experience level: Ideally 5–8 years (minimum 3–5 with strong relevant industry experience)
