Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join our dynamic team. The Manufacturing Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of manufacturing processes to ensure the efficient production of high-quality products. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and project management.

  • Ensure all products can be manufactured to a quality assured, reliable, scalable, and repeatable manner to specification.
  • Prepare production routings and procedures.
  • Design, deploy, and own manufacturing equipment and tooling.
  • Support Continuous Improvement activities across the full product range, from NPI to end of life.
  • Mechanical assembly experience with respect to metalwork and circuit card integration, including use of fixings and thermal materials.
  • Analyze manufacturing defects and process failures to determine root causes and corrective actions.
  • Support the development and introduction of new or improved manufacturing solutions and processes, collaborating with Engineering and Operations.
  • Participate in NPI and design reviews, advising on manufacturing process development and recommending efficient technologies and processes.
  • Ensure timely and within-budget release of NPIs.
  • Mentor and develop Manufacturing Engineering Technicians.
  • Perform other tasks as directed by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager or Senior Manufacturing Engineer.

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a suitable technical equivalent.

Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, engineering principles, product and project management.

Good understanding of IPC-A-610 Class 3 and J-STD-001 standards.

Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Experience with MRP and ERP systems, preferably SAP.

Knowledge of hand soldering.

Experience in press fit tooling design and deployment.

Project management experience in a technical discipline.

Understanding of modern electronic circuit card and system assembly techniques, including mechanical assembly processes.

Proven track record of delivering excellence as a Manufacturing Engineer in a dynamic environment.

Self-motivated with mentoring, influencing, and motivating skills.

Ability to collect, interpret, and analyze data for effective problem resolution.

Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills across all levels.

Team player.

Knowledge of Conformal Coating, Underfill, and Overfill processes related to PVA, Asymtek, and GPD machines.

Ability to perform DFMEA and PFMEA reviews.

Experience with OpEx / lean manufacturing.

Familiarity with value stream mapping, 5 Why’s, and 5S processes.

Experience working within a Defence or Aerospace environment.

Typical Working Conditions

The environment is well-lit, heated, and air-conditioned with adequate ventilation. Noise levels are usually quiet. Some exposure to heat or cold may occur in manufacturing areas. Safety equipment may be required.

Essential Physical Tasks

Tasks include sitting, standing, walking, bending, reaching, handling, grasping, typing, and vision activities such as close, distance, color, peripheral, and depth perception. Reasonable accommodations will be provided as needed.
