Qualifications

Job description


We need a Manufacturing Engineer, New Addington, Croydon 30,000 - 50,000 a year, Job Types: Permanent

Please note this is a full-time (37.5hrs/week) on-site job and we are based within ULEZ.

Working hours: Monday - Thursday 8.00am to 4.45pm, Friday 8.00am to 12.30pm

High reliability sectors, which include the regulated and demanding nuclear, defence and aerospace markets, specialise in designing and manufacturing detector products across a diverse range of applications for UK and export markets.

The successful post holder will provide engineering support for manufacturing techniques used within operational activities, assist in maintaining operational qualifications and standards within manufacturing processes and improve the capability of the company in terms of skills, processes, products and equipment. Ultimately, the post holder will become the technical expert for products and processes.

To be considered for this role, you must have a degree/HNC or equivalent in Engineering/Science.

Previous experience of working within a highly regulated industry would be an advantage.

You will have a good understanding of the principles of the operation of applicable components, working knowledge of documentation control within a highly regulated industry and knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques including Root Cause analysis.

You must have proven experience of working with engineering documentation including drawings, specifications, work instructions and first article inspection reports.

Ideally, you will have experience of electro-mechanical and radiation detection principles.

You will have a proven track record of reviewing and capturing requirements, interpreting them and translating them into methods as well as identifying and implementing improvements to processes or products.

You will be an excellent communicator and influencer who can build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders and train, coach and mentor others.

You must be a natural problem solver with ability to manage multiple tasks, work on your own initiative and make sound decisions proactively while working to agreed timescales, quality and cost. You must be IT literate in standard Office packages.

Note that you must be meeting the eligibility criteria for UK security clearance (SC)

Key duties

  • Provide hands on, day to day, technical support within operational areas as required and support team members to help achieve targets and objectives;
  • Provide documentation and work instructions as necessary to support manufacturing activities;
  • Prepare and maintain manufacturing processes, qualification and documentation undertaking continuous improvement as appropriate;
  • Provide support to manufacturing management with operational activities;
  • Ensure all procedures and methods are updated with respect to the business and the customer requirements and standards;
  • Ensure that products, documentation and processes are designed with manufacturability in mind;
  • Be the interface between design and manufacture for product or process introduction;
  • Assist with non-conformance issue within manufacturing areas;
  • Develop, embed and maintain performance metrics within operational areas;
  • Liaise with both internal and external customers.
