This role offers a competitive hourly rate between £18-£22 (PAYE) and £23.50 - £28.80 (Umbrella).

  • Plan, prioritize, and optimize resources.
  • Maintain documentation and compliance with policies.
  • Champion health and safety protocols.
  • Mentor team members and apprentices.

Manufacturing Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a Manufacturing Engineer to join a leading manufacturing company in a dynamic role supporting manufacturing excellence. You’ll play a pivotal role in extensive manufacturing department while contributing to process optimisation and lean manufacturing initiatives. Collaborate with engineers, supervisors, and cross-functional teams to drive efficiency, resolve challenges, and uphold the highest standards of quality and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support production by refining manufacturing processes to ensure relevance, efficiency, and lean practices.
  • Source equipment and perform engineering tasks to maintain smooth operations.
  • Collaborate with the Obsolescence Team to identify and replace outdated components.
  • Plan, prioritize, and optimize resources to meet deadlines and business needs.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), and ensure compliance with legislation and company policies.
  • Champion health and safety protocols, housekeeping standards, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Mentor team members and apprentices, sharing knowledge to enhance team capabilities.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities and support other departments as required.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Completion of a time-served mechanical/electrical apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Strong knowledge of wiring practices and multi-skilled in electrical/mechanical tasks.
  • Computer literacy and proficiency in documentation.
  • Proven ability to plan workloads, communicate effectively, and work autonomously or as part of a team.
  • Commitment to health, safety, and quality standards.

Beneficial Skills (Not Mandatory):

  • Experience with wire looms/loom frames.
  • Basic understanding of electronics.
  • Driving licence (advantageous but not essential).
  • Previous experience in a similar manufacturing or rail automation environment.
