Job Description

A Bristol based Next Gen Avionics client has an OUTSIDE IR35 contract opportunity to support with the manufacturing and build of their next aircraft. The position involves:

  1. Working on fixture design - can use SolidWorks.
  2. Specifically holding assemblies and fixtures.
  3. Guiding products from the prototype stage to full-scale production (NPI).
  4. Production work downstream.
  5. Product work instructions.
  6. Observing builds and documenting, communicating, and chasing resolutions of lessons learnt.

Examples of tasks include becoming more hands-on with the build process and being the main point of contact for Manufacturing Engineering in the assembly of Beta. This will involve the following:

  1. Capturing all the issues during each stage of the builds in BETA.
  2. Being present, supporting the builds, and being involved/hands-on (where safety allows).
  3. Capturing issues in an Excel sheet.
  4. Reviewing these weekly.
  5. Arranging fixes for issues if this is holding up builds.
  6. Building documentation.
  7. As part of the OK to build reviews, ensuring all documents are ready; we have seen issues with builds where instructions aren’t complete.
  8. Being the go-to person who coordinates with engineers or the correct personnel needed to address issues, including walking upstairs to get someone, finding equipment/tools, calling people on Teams, and arranging time for engineers to be present.
  9. Weekly reporting on your work and planning for the following week.
  10. Documenting the number of risks found, number of risks mitigated, and how.
  11. Supporting the wider ME team when requested.
