The company designs and develops innovative mechanical solutions for equipment in the defence sector and is looking for a talented individual with a passion for engineering excellence and a strong desire to make a meaningful impact.


This role is a 12-month fixed term contract initially, with the potential to extend further.


This position is suitable for someone experienced with CNC machines, including programming and proving out manufacturing methods. Job Role
  1. Provide manufacturing solutions to a cost- and time-effective plan.
  2. Construct process method operation sheets, including inspection, machining, heat treatment, and finishes.
  3. Provide working stage drawings to support shop-floor manufacturing.
  4. Develop CNC programs for milling, lathes, mill-turns, and wire cutting EDM using SolidCam.
  5. Prove out manufacturing methods on CNC machines and hand over to operations.
  6. Design jigs and fixtures to enable cost-effective and efficient manufacturing processes, supporting fixture design with SolidWorks.
  7. Prepare Bills of Materials using customer drawing data.
  8. Collaborate with approved subcontract machinists to ensure manufacturing and quality standards are met, and set up mirrored production methods when necessary.
  9. Support supply chain development of subcontract machinists.
  10. Lead the installation, commissioning, and acceptance of new capital expenditure.
Skills and Experience
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Extensive knowledge of CNC machining processes.
  • Experience with SolidWorks 3D CAD and ideally SolidCam.
  • Strong practical application of Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques, including 5S, waste reduction, quality tools, TPM, and statistical process capability.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a multi-project environment.
