Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR is seeking a Manufacturing Development Engineer to ensure suppliers can manufacture designed products with repeatable processes. You will verify robustness, develop supplier capability for future requirements, and assess supplier manufacturing capability while supporting process development.

The role requires experience in regulated environments and exposure to nuclear or related sectors. It is based in Derby, Manchester, or Warrington with hybrid working and some supplier travel.

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing/process engineering experience in regulated environments.
  • Experience in process improvement and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience training and coaching suppliers or teams desirable.
  • Exposure to nuclear, defence or aerospace sectors advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Verify repeatability and robustness of manufacturing operations.
  • Develop supplier capability to manufacture future programme requirements.
  • Assess supplier manufacturing capability.
  • Support manufacturing process development.
  • Train suppliers on best practice.
  • Validate repeatable manufacturing processes.

We're developing innovative small modular reactors, making clean energy more accessible while creating a UK success story with the potential to transform energy systems around the world.The appointment of a Manufacturing Development Engineer will be a pivotal role at Rolls Royce SMR to ensure suppliers can successfully manufacture designed products.You will be reporting to our Senior Supply Chain Development Manager and your role will look like,Support suppliers in establishing manufacturing processesVerify repeatability and robustness of manufacturing operationsDevelop supplier capability to manufacture future programme requirementsAssess supplier manufacturing capabilitySupport manufacturing process developmentTrain suppliers on best practiceValidate repeatable manufacturing processesWe seek an inspiring and collaborative individual who will have had exposure in regulated or safety‑critical environments (as you would expect nuclear \"know-how\" will be of great interest to us, whilst those from defence, aerospace and manufacturing sectors may all have transferable capability).We will need your application to showcase your experience and knowledge in the following areas:Manufacturing Engineer backgroundExperience in manufacturing/process engineering environmentsProcess improvement experienceTraining/coaching experience desirableHNC/HND desirableLocation & Ways of WorkingThis role can be based from our Derby, Manchester or Warrington office. Hybrid working is standard, with regular supplier travel required. Some international travel may also be required depending on supplier activity.
