Job summary

Rolls-Royce SMR Limited is hiring a Manufacturing Development Engineer to support suppliers in establishing robust manufacturing processes and to validate repeatable manufacturing methods. The role involves assessing supplier capabilities, coaching teams, and driving process development to meet future programme requirements.

You will report to the Senior Supply Chain Development Manager and may travel to supplier sites. Hybrid work is standard with offices in Derby, Manchester or Warrington.

Qualifications

• Manufacturing Engineer background and relevant experience in manufacturing/process engineering environments.
• Experience in process improvement and optimization.
• Training or coaching experience is desirable.

At Rolls‑Royce SMR, we’re tackling the energy challenge head on by building the next generation of clean energy. The appointment of a Manufacturing Development Engineer will be a pivotal role at Rolls Royce SMR to ensure suppliers can successfully manufacture designed products. You will be reporting to our Senior Supply Chain Development Manager and your role will look like:

• Support suppliers in establishing manufacturing processes
• Verify repeatability and robustness of manufacturing operations
• Develop supplier capability to manufacture future programme requirements
• Assess supplier manufacturing capability
• Support manufacturing process development
• Train suppliers on best practice
• Validate repeatable manufacturing processes

We seek an inspiring and collaborative individual who will have had exposure in regulated or safety‑critical environments (as you would expect nuclear “know‑how” will be of great interest to us, whilst those from defence, aerospace and manufacturing sectors may all have transferable capability). We will need your application to showcase your experience and knowledge in the following areas:

• Manufacturing Engineer background
• Experience in manufacturing/process engineering environments
• Process improvement experience
• Training/coaching experience desirable
• HNC/HND desirable

Location & Ways of Working

This role can be based from our Derby, Manchester or Warrington office. Hybrid working is standard, with regular supplier travel required. Some international travel may also be required depending on supplier activity.

A salary between £50,640 and £66,500 depending on experience. 12.5% performance related bonus. A benefits allowance of £2,200 to build a personalised package.
