KLA in Newport is launching its Graduate Development program for engineers and scientists eager to build a career in a fast-growing semiconductor company. You will join one of our Manufacturing Design Engineering teams, gaining hands-on experience across operations, product launches and sustaining activities, with exposure to Europe, Asia and the USA.

This program includes classroom training, soft-skills development, and on-the-job mentoring, with opportunities to contribute to process

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (2:1) in Engineering required or equivalent.
  • Experience with MATLAB and MS Office is advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Work at the heart of a world-class semiconductor manufacturing operation, collaborating with engineering, manufacturing, operations and quality teams to develop innovative solutions.
  • Play a hands-on role in launching next-generation products, contributing to New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes and transforming designs into robust manufacturing solutions.
  • Gain exposure across the full product lifecycle, from development and manufacturing through sustaining engineering, improving performance and customer experience.
  • Solve real engineering challenges using structured problem solving, data analysis and industry-leading tools to drive improvements.

Group/Division

SPTS wafer processing solutions include market-leading silicon etch, dielectric etch, dry-release etch, PVD, PECVD and molecular vapor deposition (MVD®), available with a range of wafer-handling options applicable to R&D, pilot production, or volume production environments. SPTS is headquartered and has its main manufacturing facility in Newport, UK, with additional manufacturing in Allentown, Pennsylvania. SPTS operates across 19 countries in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific, and offers comprehensive service and spare parts support through a worldwide network of service centers and qualified local agents.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Business Unit:

We design, develop and manufacture high-tech capital equipment for the semiconductor and related global markets. You’ll be joining one of our Manufacturing Design Engineering teams, providing operational support and engineering solutions from our head office in Newport. The role offers broad exposure across engineering, manufacturing, operations, new product launch, sustaining and quality teams, with opportunities to support customers and suppliers throughout Europe, Asia and the USA.

This role represents an exciting opportunity for graduate scientists or engineers who want to build a career in a fast-growing, award-winning global semiconductor company. You will gain hands-on experience across the full operations lifecycle, contribute to cutting-edge technology and follow a clearly defined development path where continued learning, new ideas and growing responsibility are encouraged and rewarded.

Company Introduction:

Following the Company's extensive onboarding and introduction program, you will join our Graduate Development program which includes Technical Classroom training, Soft-skills training, Team building, corporate responsibility activities and finally placement across all of our operations and process teams. It is not required for you to already have the skills and knowledge to perform the role, full on the job training will be provided through our graduate develop scheme. You will then be welcomed into your Team and continue your development supported by your KLA mentor!

Your qualifications:

Minimum Bachelor’s Degree (2:1) in Engineering Discipline. Applicants with a Masters or prior experience of studies within the semiconductor industry would be desirable but certainly not a must. A good acquaintance with SW tools (MS office, MATLAB) would be advantageous.
