Job description

This is an exciting role within our Manufacturing Design Engineering (MDE) team, focused on the design and development of improvements to products and processes to support manufacturing growth, new product introduction, and continuous improvement projects.

The MDE will play a critical role in ensuring manufacturing and support teams are planning and executing activities according to correct specifications, efficiently, to deliver high-value products on time and to quality standards.

Our MDEs are involved across the organization, developing multi-functional relationships and contributing to the growth of both the MDE team and support teams' technical capabilities.

To make an immediate impact, MDEs should have a broad understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and a desire to continually improve processes to maximize yield.

KLA is proud to be an inclusive and diverse employer. We offer a flexible working culture to support your needs. Please let us know how we can assist you!

  • Create and maintain product specifications and BOMs.
  • Manage specifications with Enovia PLM — training will be provided.
  • Lead multiple projects, working cross-functionally with Operations and Engineering teams.
  • Analyze customer returns (RMA), define root causes, and implement preventive actions.
  • Introduce new variants or processes to the production line.
  • Release, update, and control Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provide technical or product guidance to Supply Chain and Outsourcing teams.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Generate, review, and approve Engineering Change Orders.
  • Implement changes following our Product Lifecycle (PLC) process, ensuring first-time right execution.
  • Maintain tooling and equipment through calibration, safety checks, and regular controls.

Minimum Qualifications

KLA is proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Materials, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, or has equivalent experience.
  • Has experience with Lean manufacturing principles — 5S, VSM, SMED, and cellular manufacturing.
  • Can work with complex data sets and handle Statistical Process Control.
  • Has working knowledge of CNC milling and post-machine cleaning operations.
  • Is willing to travel to other KLA sites for extended periods to learn, document, and improve production processes.
  • Proficiency in CAD is desirable.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
