Job summary

CRC Evans, based in Burnley, is seeking a Manufacturing Design Engineer to join the engineering and production teams.

You will model standard and project equipment in SolidWorks, produce detailed manufacturing drawings to BS 8888, and manage EBOMs/MBOMs while implementing practical improvements to manufacturability.

Collaborating with Workshop Technicians and cross‑functional teams, you will support engineering changes and maintain documentation across the 3DEXPERIENCE PDM system.

Qualifications

  • Engineering based degree or equivalent HNC/HND 2:2 or above.
  • Strong SolidWorks modelling, assembly and drawing skills.
  • Good understanding of mechanical manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to interpret and produce manufacturing documentation.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple engineering tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Engineering, Production and Workshop teams.
  • Able to work independently while supporting cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to engineering quality.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and maintain 3D CAD models of standard and project-specific equipment using SolidWorks.
  • Produce detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings in accordance with BS 8888.
  • Produce, maintain and revise Engineering Bills of Materials (EBOMs) and Manufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMs).
  • Identify opportunities to improve existing equipment through practical engineering modifications.
  • Implement minor mechanical design improvements to improve manufacturability, reliability, maintainability and assembly efficiency.
  • Assist in reducing production downtime through engineering improvements.
  • Review Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and support implementation of Engineering Change Notices (ECNs).
  • Maintain configuration integrity between CAD models, drawings, BOMs and manufactured equipment.
  • Support the ongoing implementation and administration of the Company's 3DEXPERIENCE PDM system.
  • Work closely with Workshop Technicians throughout equipment manufacture and refurbishment.
  • Respond to workshop engineering queries and implement agreed design improvements.
  • Coordinate maintenance documentation and engineering support for production equipment.

About the role

Reporting to the Lead Manufacturing & Production Engineer, the Manufacturing Design Engineer will be based in the Burnley office.

This role is particularly well suited to candidates with:

  • Experience using 3D CAD software (preferably SolidWorks) for modelling, assemblies and manufacturing drawings.
  • Experience creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or workshop environments.
  • Good understanding of manufacturing processes, fabrication techniques and mechanical assemblies.
Key Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Engineering & Manufacturing Support
