Job description

This is a development position from a Band 4 Manual Handling Associate Trainer to a Band 5 Manual Handling Trainer after achieving the relevant qualifications, which are:

  • IOSH training course
  • Internal sign-off of competencies
  • Possess or willing to work towards a recognised teaching qualification (C&G 7304 Certificate in Teaching) to Diploma level equivalent

If these qualifications have already been achieved, commencing at Band 5 can be negotiated. Please see the attached document for the Band 4 and Band 5 job descriptions.

To develop the skills and gain the experience required to support the Manual Handling Trainer and the Training Manager in delivering a range of training across the Trust. This is a development opportunity, supervised and supported as the individual develops in the role. The main areas of focus will be:

  1. To learn to deliver a range of moving and handling, and associated training offerings for staff across the Trust, including Moving and Handling and Resuscitation training.
  2. To work with the Manual Handling Trainer, the Training Manager, and the training teams to increase capacity to teach and advise staff on Resuscitation and personal back care and moving and handling issues.
  3. To respond flexibly to training needs emerging within the Trust relating to moving and handling issues.
  4. To support/deliver high-quality Resuscitation and Moving and Handling training across the Trust.
  5. To work as part of a Learning and Development team, developing as an individual trainer.
  6. To offer a consistent, reliable service, including punctuality and contingency planning.
  7. Attend team meetings, supervision, and annual reviews.
  8. Undertake essential training and any other duties relevant to the post.

Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled Worker visa. Applicants with no prior NHS experience would typically be placed at the bottom of the band, and the salary may not support sponsorship for a Skilled Worker/Health & Care visa.
