Job Description:

We are currently seeking a Managing Scientist - Ecotoxicologist for our Chemical Regulation and Food Safety Practice in Harrogate (UK), Derby (UK), London (UK), Dublin (IE), Mannheim (DE), or Basel (SW) offices; homeworking will also be considered.

You will be responsible for:

  • Conducting environmental risk assessments for plant protection products as required by EU legislation (Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009).
  • Summarising and interpreting data, including study reports and published literature in the area of ecotoxicology, drawing sound scientific and regulatory conclusions.
  • Providing advice to clients on plant protection product ecotoxicology/environmental risk assessment issues.
  • Data gap analysis, developing testing strategies, and monitoring ecotoxicology studies.
  • Providing verbal and/or written inputs to multi-disciplinary project teams and contributing to providing high-level strategic advice to clients and high-quality outputs.

You will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • Sc. or . degree or equivalent in relevant discipline (. biology, environmental science). A higher degree (MSc, PhD) would also be an advantage.
  • Significant experience of completing environmental risk assessments under EU plant protection product legislation (Regulation (EC) No 1107/2009).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Strong team working skills.
  • Sound judgement and decision-making ability.
