Overview

Managing Quantity Surveyor£65,000 to £72,000 plus up to 15% bonus and company car (if mileage requirements are met) • Peterborough

This role involves travel to Peterborough and other sites across the East region of the UK, with home working in between (i.e. 3 days on site, 2 days remote).

About the role

We’re looking for a commercially driven and strategically minded Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead the financial and contractual delivery of our construction projects. In this role, you’ll be responsible for ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and compliance.

You’ll provide expert commercial support across all phases of project delivery, manage complex contracts, and oversee financial reporting and risk management. Your leadership will be key in resolving disputes, driving continuous improvement, and mentoring junior team members to ensure high performance and professional growth.

What you’ll be doing
  • Leading commercial delivery across a portfolio of construction projects.
  • Managing contract administration and resolving contractual issues.
  • Overseeing financial reporting, payment validation, and budget control.
  • Supporting tender evaluation and negotiating to achieve best-value outcomes.
  • Providing strategic input into risk management and maintaining project risk registers.
  • Resolving complex disputes and ensuring satisfactory outcomes.
  • Driving continuous improvement in quantity surveying practices.
  • Mentoring and supporting junior quantity surveyors, fostering team development.

Key requirements & experience
  • NEC two-stage contract experience
  • CICES or RICS chartered member
  • Experience with NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, particularly options A, C & E
  • Proven experience in the utilities industry, with a deep understanding of its unique challenges and opportunities
  • Strong background in portfolio commercial management, demonstrating the ability to manage complex contracts and relationships effectively
  • Dispute management experience
  • Desirable: APM PMQ, APM PPQ, CIPS, CPCM, or NCMA
  • Full UK car driving licence
