L&Q’s Commercial team within Property Services are hiring a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join and lead their new team. The role reports directly into the Head of Commercial and will be responsible for a team of up to 5 staff of differing experience levels.

We are looking for a proven Commercial professional with extensive Senior Management experience to oversee the financial and contractual administration of projects carried out by L&Q. The role requires ensuring that general quantity surveying duties are performed to the highest standards, with full contractual and monetary entitlement secured in the most advantageous terms for L&Q.

The Managing Quantity Surveyor will manage principal contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers to achieve the best value for the programme, while protecting the business contractually and providing accurate financial forecasts.

You will have experience in providing mitigation strategies for contract and subcontract matters, ready for review by the Head of Commercial.

This position will be accountable for departmental savings, requiring experience in managing budgets using forensic cost control techniques. Strong analytical, numeracy, and data interrogation skills are essential.

You will take full ownership of the department, leading, motivating, communicating with, developing, appraising, and managing employee performance to ensure high motivation and performance.

You will support operational colleagues and other relevant teams to ensure contractual processes and project issues are properly managed. Commercial awareness with good legal/contractual knowledge and proficiency in standard measurement methods are required.

Ideally, candidates will hold a related degree or HNC level qualification, demonstrating substantial relevant experience. Membership of CIOB or RICS is desirable but not essential.

As a multi-site organisation, occasional travel between offices may be required, with expenses covered.
