Job description

On behalf of our client, we are recruiting a Managing Quantity Surveyor for their stations and buildings portfolio in Wales & Western region on the CP7 framework. Works will include the building of 6 new stations, as well as maintenance and renewals of canopies, buildings, depots, platform structures, car parks, and subways.

Role and Responsibilities:
  1. Provide accurate financial reporting on individual projects.
  2. Review and report on other projects within your remit.
  3. Supervise, support, and advise direct reports.
  4. Place subcontracts in accordance with main contract policies and procedures.
  5. Advise project surveyors on opportunities to maximise value and minimise costs.
  6. Ensure procedures are followed by direct reports.
  7. Monitor subcontractors against programme and support direct reports accordingly.
  8. Monitor internal expenditure against budget.
  9. Ensure accurate forecasting.
  10. Implement and monitor commercial systems and procedures.
  11. Maintain effective communication with all parties.
  12. Maximise reporting efficiency through techniques and systems.

Candidate Requirements:
  • Experience working across disciplines within a rail environment, such as groundworks, RC structures, steelwork, and building.
  • Experience with tier 1 contractors.
  • Experience managing a project portfolio up to £25 million.
  • BSc or HND in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Preferably qualified to CIOB or RICS accreditation.
  • Ability to work independently, with knowledge of subcontractor procurement and measurement cycles.
  • Understanding of suppliers' business and commitments.
  • Local market knowledge.
