Job description

We're looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Natural Resources team, within a commutable distance to Falmer. In this role, you'll provide commercial support on the mobilisation and ongoing operations of our new 7-year, c£1bn framework with Southern Water.

Location: Chatham or Falmer, East Sussex up to 3 days a week
Contract: Permanent, Full Time – flexible and part time hours may be available if desired, just let us know.

Responsibilities

We're looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor. The successful candidate will be required to provide commercial support to the project teams, maintaining commercial information and ensuring compliance with contractual requirements and objectives are achieved. You'll be required to liaise with customer representatives and other third parties on commercial issues including agreement of variations, claims and any additional payments.

Your day to day will include:

  • Working closely with the wider Senior Leadership Team to advise on commercial strategy to ensure successful conversion of opportunities and profitability of work undertaken.
  • Advising on the commercial implications of any bid or delivery strategies to ensure full visibility on risk and reward opportunities.
  • Seeking and implementing effective risk management and mitigation strategies to achieve targeted commercial outcomes.
  • Managing a team of commercial staff across the region, identifying talent, training needs, allocating resources, recruiting and ensuring development through PDR's.
  • Empowering excellent performance at all levels, ensuring that Kier Culture and principles are upheld and generally be an ambassador for the NRNN business.

What are we looking for?

This Managing Quantity Surveyor role is great for you if you have:

  • A relevant Degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying.
  • Lengthy experience in a senior commercial capacity within a Tier 1 main contracting environment managing teams of significant size, preferably in the Water sector and/or within regulated utilities.
  • Strong understanding of the NEC forms of contract and knowledge of current Construction Law.
  • Experience in commercial management and procurement of subcontractors, including chairing regular meetings, measurement and control cycle, certificates, and accruals calculations.
  • Strong commercial reporting track record, with the ability to produce reports for the region accurately outlining the business commercial position, risks and opportunities.
