Qualifications

  • Ideally possesses a Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction or equivalent.
  • Preferably a member of the RICS or IOB or working towards it.
  • Previous experience as a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager.
  • Strong Residential Construction experience, specifically on mixed use housing developments and knowledge of major infrastructure and earthworks.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to lead in a dynamic site-based environment.
  • Solid understanding of subcontractor processes, including payment, ordering, valuations, and final accounts.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage a high-value housing-development of over 200 dwellings.
  • Prepare and review monthly Cost Value Reports, Margin Analyses, and commercial forecasts.
  • Manage procurement activities, including preparing tender documents and selecting subcontractors.
  • Collaborate closely with internal departments on cost implications during design and development stages.
  • Oversee budgets and cost plans, including construction cost analysis and monthly cost reporting.
  • Monitor and facilitate the recovery of retention, outstanding balances and final accounts from clients.

Location: South Midlands

Company: One of the UK's biggest Housebuilders

Salary & Package: £70,000 - £80,000 + package (will pay more for exceptional candidates)

Managing Quantity Surveyor Opportunity
My client is a well-established and fast-growing Housebuilder, known for delivering high-quality homes, working on major developments across the UK. Due to a significant increase in key projects, the company is now looking for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to join their South Midlands based Commercial Team to manage large residential developments. You will be responsible for the Commercial function and success on site, driving profitability and supporting team development.

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for:

  • To oversee and manage a high-value housing-development of over 200 dwellings.
  • Preparing and reviewing monthly Cost Value Reports, Margin Analyses, and commercial forecasts in conjunction with senior management.
  • Managing procurement activities, including preparing tender documents, selecting subcontractors, and finalising contracts.
  • Collaborating closely with internal departments to advise on cost implications during the design and development stages.
  • Overseeing budgets and cost plans, including start-on-site budgets, construction cost analysis, and monthly cost reporting.
  • Monitoring and facilitating the recovery of retention, outstanding balances and final accounts from clients and subcontractors.
  • Deputising for the Associate Commercial Director and supporting strategic reporting across the region.

Managing Quantity Surveyor Requirements:

  • Ideally possesses a Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction or equivalent.
  • Preferably a member of the RICS or IOB or working towards it.
  • Previous experience as a Senior or Managing Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Manager.
  • Strong Residential Construction experience, specifically on mixed use housing developments and knowledge of major infrastructure and earthworks.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills and the ability to lead in a dynamic site-based environment.
