Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in the Midlands is seeking a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Derby or Nottingham team. You will work across a wide range of projects supporting clients on complex, high-value programmes with an initial emphasis on the Water sector.

You'll collaborate with clients and supply chain partners to develop and deliver solutions to complex commercial and procurement challenges, applying NEC, JCT or FIDIC contracts, and leading a team to maximise value.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with NEC, JCT, and FIDIC contracts.
  • Strong contract administration and commercial management skills.
  • Proven ability to manage and develop client relationships and teams.

Your role
  • We are looking for a Managing Quantity Surveyor to join our Midlands team, based in either Derby or Nottingham. You will work across a wide range of projects supporting clients on complex and high-value programmes, with an initial emphasis on the Water sector.
  • Working with clients across the public and private sector, you will use your skills - technical and others - to share your knowledge, expertise, and experience, and ultimately to deliver fantastic services.
  • You will work collaboratively with our clients and their supply chain partners to develop/deliver solutions to complex and dynamic problems.
  • The successful candidate will have a passion to work with our national infrastructure clients operating with a growth mindset to build relationships with our key clients.
  • This role requires you to pull on your commercial and procurement expertise to advise and help deliver a wide range of commercial, procurement and supply chain requirements, all whilst focusing on ensuring maximum value within the supply chain eco-system for our clients.
  • The ideal candidate, is a team player, has growing leadership qualities and possess the softer consulting skillset required to thrive in a client environment.
About you
  • A Managing Quantity Surveyor with experience in major programmes and complex infrastructure within, construction, engineering, manufacturing, oil and gas or UK Public Sector organisation.
  • Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related commercial/construction discipline, or able to demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience gained through practice.
  • Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) or an equivalent recognised body.
  • Has experience with construction contracts such as NEC, JCT, FIDIC and can confidently produce and advise clients on their application.
  • Has experience of dispute avoidance, with the ability to identify commercial or contractual issues early, manage them proactively and support timely resolution before they escalat.
  • Has experience of line management or leading a team, with the ability to provide clear direction, manage performance and support individual development.
  • Has the ability to work in a client facing environment, alongside multidisciplinary teams of colleagues, clients and partners to deliver solutions to complex client or industry challenges.
  • Has strong communication and stakeholder management experience, with the ability to engage across complex stakeholder environments, utilising a range of informative communication tools to support buy-in across the organisation.
  • Has the ability and willingness to develop technical and consulting skills in order to deliver excellent service to our clients, representing the AtkinsRéalis brand to their best of their ability.
  • Has business development and win-work experience, such as bid writing, pre-contract engagement, client relationship management.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance. If this is necessary, it will be discussed with you at interview.
