Job summary

Key Talent Solutions is seeking an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor for water and civil engineering projects around Durham. The role focuses on protecting margins, cash flow, and contractual compliance while building a high-performing QS team.

You will lead commercial delivery across water projects, own cost control and forecasts, manage NEC contract administration, and drive strong relationships with delivery teams, clients and the supply chain.

Qualifications

• 10+ years’ experience in commercial construction.
• Strong background in civil engineering, water/wastewater, utilities, drainage, highways or infrastructure.
• Degree qualified with strong commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills.
• Valid UK driving licence and access to Bowburn.

Managing Quantity Surveyor - Water / Civil Engineering - Durham

We are looking for an experienced Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial delivery across water industry contracts and civil engineering projects within a drainage and wastewater network environment.

This is a senior commercial role suited to someone who can protect margin, cash flow and contractual compliance, while developing a QS team and building strong relationships with delivery teams, clients and supply chain partners.

What you will be doing:

• Leading commercial management across water and civil engineering projects
• Owning cost control, valuations, CVRs, forecasts, commercial reporting and final accounts
• Managing NEC contract administration, risk, change, variations and delays
• Leading subcontract procurement, payment, performance and account close-out

What we are looking for:

• 10+ years’ experience in a commercial construction environment
• Strong background in civil engineering, water/wastewater, utilities, drainage, highways or infrastructure
• D&C/framework experience highly desirable
• Degree qualified or equivalent, with strong commercial judgement and stakeholder management skills
• Valid UK driving licence and realistic access to Bowburn and regional sites
