Job description

The opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional visionary leader to take on the pivotal role of Managing Director to lead NHS P&I during a time of significant transformation and innovation. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with Welsh Government (WG), NHS Wales, local authorities, wider public bodies, and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Provide strategic leadership, operational excellence, and foster a culture of continuous improvement across NHS P&I functions.
  2. Report directly to the CEO of NHS Wales/Director General, Health Social Care & Early Years Group, WG, overseeing the development and delivery of the annual work plan.
  3. Lead the strategic and operational direction, ensuring delivery of national priorities aligned with the Mandate and Remit Letter from Welsh Government.
  4. Manage performance and development of NHS P&I, setting and achieving performance targets.
  5. Drive system-wide transformation, integration, and collaborative leadership across all functions.
  6. Ensure NHS P&I responds effectively to recommendations from the independent Ministerial Advisory Group on Performance and Productivity.
  7. Uphold statutory commitments to provide safe, high-quality services aimed at improving patient outcomes in the Welsh NHS.
  8. Foster a compassionate, inclusive, and high-performing organizational culture rooted in core values.
  9. Build strong partnerships across government departments, NHS Wales, social care, third sector, academia, and private sector.
  10. Ensure financial sustainability, delivery, efficiency, governance, and compliance with statutory and legislative requirements.
