As a Managing Director, you will provide strategic business leadership for L&S Waste Management, fostering profitable and sustainable growth while ensuring compliance with operational governance, legislation, and regulations. You will build a high-performance, safety-first culture, drive employee engagement, and ensure the consistent adoption of Biffa I&C's commercial approach based on best practices.

Your core responsibilities

• Ensure health and safety standards within L&S, including risk assessments and operating practices.
• Develop and contribute to the 5-year business plan focused on profitability and cash flow.
• Participate in the C&D division leadership team, contributing to corporate governance and decision-making.
• Identify cross-group opportunities to support customer propositions and retention.
• Create and cascade the annual L&S Business Plan with clear objectives and KPIs.
• Oversee financial performance, client management, and service delivery across the customer base.
• Develop a roadmap for integrating acquired businesses to enhance operational efficiency.
• Ensure operational efficiency and develop excellence across L&S.
• Lead recruitment, development, and succession planning within the leadership team.

Qualifications:

• Proven track record with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Successful experience in organizational transformation and growth.
• Waste industry experience and knowledge of waste and recycling legislation.
• Confidence in financial planning, budgeting, and business strategy.
• Strong analytical skills and commercial awareness.
