We are looking for the thought leader and technical expert in a particular vertical (e.g., Financial Services, Telecommunications) to join the CXO Advisory team. This part of the industry solutions organization is a fast-growing, globally-dispersed team working in an exciting space with nearly limitless opportunities for growth! Our team members are experienced practitioners and experts working directly with the C-Suite of our clients on application modernization and related strategies, while also engaging with customer developers and speaking their language.

The Application Modernization Advisory team is a community of MongoDB experts delivering thought leadership and practical guidance for legacy modernization and application stack innovation. This encompasses not only database interactions but a holistic end-to-end view based on MongoDB team experiences, including the full application stack. Generative AI plays a key role—both as a tool for modernizing legacy systems and as a means to elevate development organizations to face future challenges. The individual will engage with clients and evolve approaches and concepts continuously. Responsibilities include supporting executive sales conversations, developing sales materials and training, advising on modernization strategies, and leading modernization pilots and programs. Occasionally, to ensure project success, hands-on coding and technical direction are required. Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential, as is experience in software development and management of software projects.

This role involves collaboration across various company functions, including sales, professional services, product, and marketing. You will be instrumental in winning deals, driving business growth, and serving as a trusted client advisor. The position is flexible but must be based in the specified region, and remote work in Europe is available where MongoDB has an established entity.

Ideal candidates will have:

• 20+ years of experience in a specific vertical (e.g., Financial Services, Telecommunications), covering areas like application development, risk management, retail, wealth management, or credit operations
• 15+ years of software development and architecture experience
• 10+ years of IT management experience, including leading development teams
• Deep knowledge of various database products, ETL tools, database modeling, and design
• Experience transforming legacy environments (e.g., Mainframe, DB2, Oracle PL/SQL) to modern microservice architectures
• Excellent presentation and communication skills, capable of conveying complex information clearly at all organizational levels
• Experience with scalable, highly available distributed systems
• Broad understanding of data technologies (RDBMS, Java, document, key-value, unstructured, NoSQL, ISM)
• Willingness to travel up to 50% for client meetings, events, and team gatherings
