Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer

Location: Surrey (Hybrid)

**We are seeking a 'Director'/'Head of' who is looking to step into a c-suite role.

Overview

The CEO will transition into full business accountability during a short transition period following the business acquisition by a key investor. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the construction industry, particularly site services, and the ability to lead the business through growth, transformation, and increased market share.

The role involves engaging with operations, finance, commercial strategy, and client relationships to ensure a seamless transition into the CEO position. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving financial performance, EBITDA growth, and commercial success, leveraging resources and networks.

Experience in Construction Site Services and/or electricity/power supply is preferred.

  • Strategic Leadership and Business Growth
  • Develop and implement growth strategies to increase market share and expand in the UK construction industry.
  • Identify and capitalize on new business opportunities, including diversification into related markets or services.
  • Leverage resources, expertise, and networks of the Belgium-based parent company for innovation and expansion.
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners.
  • Financial Performance and Commercial Acumen
  • Own the P&L, ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded, including revenue, EBITDA, and profitability.
  • Implement cost measures to optimize efficiency and margins.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning for sustainable growth.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity to inform strategy.
  • Operational Excellence
  • Ensure high standards in delivering site services, safety, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage extensive plant inventory, ensuring maintenance, safety, and compliance.
  • Collaborate with teams to improve operational efficiency and safety standards.
  • Leadership and Team Development
  • Provide visionary leadership, fostering collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
  • Mentor and develop key team members to support growth.

Transition to CEO

Engage in all aspects of the business to understand operations, challenges, and opportunities. Work with the Board to ensure a smooth transition and develop a strategic roadmap aligned with the parent company's goals.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Proven senior leadership experience in the construction industry, especially site services or related sectors.
  • Strong financial skills with a record of P&L growth and EBITDA improvement.
  • Deep understanding of the UK construction market, including key players and regulations.
  • Ability to develop and execute growth strategies.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset to capitalize on opportunities.
  • Experience in private equity or acquisitive environments is a plus.
  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations and plant equipment management.
  • Experience working with international parent companies or within group structures.
  • Degree in Business, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field; MBA is a plus.
