Job description

A West Midlands-based market leader in sustainable service delivery is seeking a dynamic and visionary Managing Director to lead its continued growth and operational excellence across its national service network of over 100 field-based operatives. The business delivers award-winning solutions across a multitude of commercial partners.

The Opportunity

As Managing Director, you will report directly to the Owner and lead a high-performing senior leadership team. Your role will be to shape and deliver strategic growth, build commercial partnerships, and uphold a culture centred on excellence, innovation, and sustainability.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Leadership: Define and execute growth strategies across existing and new markets, diversifying the business’s service offering while championing its sustainability mission.

• Commercial & Financial Performance: Drive profitability, manage P&L, oversee budgeting and forecasting, and develop new B2B and commercial partnerships.

• Operational Excellence: Ensure high-quality service delivery across field operations, workshops, and customer support. Improve efficiencies via KPIs, process improvement, and digital solutions.

• People & Culture: Inspire and empower a values-led leadership team across Operations, Finance, HR, and Sales & Marketing. Foster a culture of inclusion, integrity, and continuous improvement.

• Governance & Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain senior-level relationships with strategic clients and industry partners. Lead board reporting and ensure regulatory compliance.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will be a commercially astute and values-driven leader with experience managing complex service operations at Director or C-suite level.

Essential:

• Proven leadership at MD/COO/Director level within service-led industries

• Strong P&L management and business development expertise

• Data-driven and results-oriented decision-making

• Skilled communicator with high emotional intelligence

• Passion for sustainability, innovation, and team development

Desirable:

• Background in field services (e.g., repair, facilities, home services)

• Familiarity with digital field operations platforms

• Engagement with relevant trade or industry bodies
