Job Title: Managing Director (MD)

Our client is a leading UK-based technology and engineering company, historically recognised for its innovative systems and critical infrastructure solutions. As part of its long-term growth strategy, the company is expanding into adjacent high-technology sectors including data centres, AI-powered analytics, and medical research technologies, with the aim to become a cross-sector leader in mission-critical, AI-enabled solutions. Our client already has excellent foundations, more so within the Aviation Sector of technology.

Key Responsibilities:

• Define and execute a multi-sector growth strategy to transition our client into an AI-driven technology powerhouse.
• Lead market analysis, and strategic partnerships in the data centre, medical AI, and pharmaceutical R&D sectors.
• Serve as the chief visionary and decision-maker, aligning the leadership team with long-term innovation goals.
• Oversee the exploration and launch of new revenue-generating verticals including: Data centre construction, management, and hosting solutions.
• AI and machine learning platforms for enterprise applications.
• Medical diagnostics, AI-assisted clinical research, and drug discovery technologies.
• Evaluate investment opportunities in deep tech, biotech, and AI healthcare analytics.
• Maintain and grow our clients core competencies in technology systems while building new business units.
• Ensure delivery of complex, multi-disciplinary projects with high performance, quality, and customer satisfaction.
• Implement agile, scalable operational models to support business diversification.
• Manage full P&L, capital planning, and financial risk across both established and emerging business lines.
• Secure funding (private equity, venture, government grants and strategic partnerships) where necessary to fuel expansion.
• Report to the Board with transparency on performance metrics and strategic outcomes.
• Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional executive team with expertise in AI, healthcare, engineering, and technology infrastructure.
• Create a culture of innovation, ethical leadership, and continuous learning.
• Drive diversity, sustainability, and ESG integration across all business functions.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Executive-level leadership experience ideally in a technology-driven or diversified engineering environment.
• Extensive experience within sectors such as aerospace, AI, data infrastructure, software development, engineering or health tech.
• Proven success in scaling business units, launching new ventures, or leading corporate transformation.
• Familiarity with regulatory frameworks in aviation, data privacy, and healthcare compliance.
• Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or Business (MBA or PhD desirable).
