Become part of the team. In this role, you will focus on helping our clients in the Energy Transition sector accelerate scientific and engineering solutions to market. Our science and design engineering team work with some of the most pioneering companies globally developing sustainable energy and negative emissions technology. Our focus is on four enabling technology value chains: Carbon Capture, Sustainable Fuels, Electrification, and Water. Our work includes physical scientific and technology development, helping clients develop and test technology, and providing scientific, technology, and innovation advisory services to investors, developers, industrial, and energy clients.

PA employs over 4,000 experts, including 550 in our Design, Engineering, and Science capabilities. Our Global Innovation Technology Centre near Cambridge features over 300 applied scientists and design engineers, with extensive laboratories and workshops. Our capabilities include Chemists, Chemical Engineers, Electrochemists, Physicists, Biologists, Mechanical and Electronics Engineers, Software and Control Systems, Industrial and Product Design, Human Insights, and more, integrated into broader networks including cyber and digital capabilities.

Joining this team means being part of our broader Energy and Utilities practice with 330 sector experts working across Water, Energy, and Nuclear sectors globally. This combination of scientific, engineering, and sector expertise positions us to help clients accelerate technology to market.

The candidate should have experience leading complex science and/or engineering development and advisory services related to energy transition technology. Consulting experience is preferred, and candidates with a focus on technology consulting sales and business development in the Energy Transition sector are encouraged to apply. Experience in one or more of the Carbon Capture, Sustainable Fuels, Electrification, and Water value chains is desirable.

Job Description

What we’re looking for:

We seek an experienced Principal Scientist or Engineer with leadership experience in multidisciplinary teams delivering high-quality technology development and advisory services in the Energy Transition sector. The candidate should have consulting and commercial experience, either within a consultancy or a large organization providing equivalent services.

The role includes:

  • Leading medium to large-scale complex multidisciplinary assignments
  • Growing, managing, and developing a high-performing team of energy transition scientists and engineers at our Global Innovation and Technology Centre
  • Managing client relationships, sales processes, and client engagement
  • Producing thought leadership to enhance PA’s profile in technology innovation
  • Initiating, leading, and winning sales opportunities

Qualifications

The candidate should have a network of senior industry contacts and potential buyers in the sector, ideally in areas complementary to our current clients. Expertise as a multidisciplinary technologist focused on energy transition is essential.
