Job Description:

We are recruiting for an experienced Managing Associate to join our Tech, IP & Data team in London, Manchester, Bristol or Birmingham. This role is vital to our team, supporting clients mainly in the public sector, handling various technology projects and providing advice on tech procurement and outsourcing.

We will invest in your success, managing your projects with Partner oversight as needed. You will work with notable clients and develop into a public sector tech specialist. We offer bespoke training to enhance your technical, commercial, and management skills, helping you build a successful practice.

Your Role
  • Work within a technology and commercial team on high-value, strategic public procurements and contracts.
  • Provide non-contentious advice on technology projects, including framework agreements, collaborations, software purchases, digital transformation, cloud migration, and outsourcing.
  • Supervise, manage, and mentor junior team members.
  • Engage in business development activities such as preparing pitches, tenders, providing training, and building client relationships.
  • Work on-site with clients when required, with options for virtual or in-person secondments.
Your Skills and Experience

Our employees are talented, technically excellent, team-oriented, and client-focused. You should demonstrate these qualities and have:

  • Experience advising and leading technology transactions and procurements for public sector clients.
  • At least 6 years of post-qualified experience within a Technology, Commercial, or Public Procurement team at a law firm or in-house legal team.
  • A motivated self-starter aiming to lead complex, strategic client work with Partner support.
  • Exceptional ability in negotiating, drafting, and advising on complex contracts.
  • A client-focused approach with strong relationship nurturing skills.
  • Drive and ambition to succeed as a key team member and contribute to the firm’s growth nationally and locally.
Your Team

Our evolving technology market benefits from our advice on development, licensing, ICT procurement, outsourcing, cloud services, e-commerce, social media, and data privacy.

We serve clients ranging from startups to major international manufacturers, including government, local authorities, law enforcement, health, utilities, and higher education sectors.
