Job summary

Trostan Dene is actively seeking a senior private funds lawyer to join its expanding funds practice in London. You will take day-to-day responsibility for complex private funds matters, working directly with clients and collaborating with colleagues across the firm.

The role offers opportunities to advise fund managers and investors on formations, investments and structuring, and to draft LPAs, PPMs and side letters. You will play a visible role in business development and know-how initiatives.

Qualifications

  • UK-qualified solicitor with 4+ PQE and strong private funds experience.
  • A track record advising on private funds mandates appropriate to your level of seniority.
  • Strong experience drafting and negotiating fund documentation, particularly LPAs, PPMs and side letters.
  • Commercially minded, with the ability to provide clear and pragmatic advice.
  • Confident dealing directly with sophisticated clients and counterparties.
  • Strong negotiation and matter management skills.
  • A genuine interest in developing client relationships and contributing to business development.
  • Collaborative, approachable and ambitious, with an appetite to take on responsibility and progress.

Responsibilities

  • Advise fund managers and investors on fund formations, investments and structuring.

  • Lead and support negotiations with fund managers, investors and other stakeholders.
  • Manage matters with appropriate partner support while taking increasing ownership of client relationships.
  • Work alongside lawyers across corporate, tax, finance, regulatory and other specialist practices on complex transactions.
  • Contribute to business development, thought leadership and client relationship initiatives.
  • Help shape the continued development of the practice, including through training, know-how and the use of technology and AI.

The Opportunity
  • This is a strategic growth hire within an established and highly regarded private funds practice.
  • The role offers the opportunity to work at Managing Associate level, taking significant responsibility for complex private funds matters.
  • You will advise a sophisticated client base of first-time managers through to established global institutions, as well as institutional investors, family offices and other sophisticated market participants.
  • The practice covers a broad range of funds work, with particular strength across private equity, venture capital, real estate, infrastructure and private credit/debt funds.
  • There is genuine scope to develop client relationships, contribute to the continued growth of the practice and play a visible role in its future direction.
The Role
