The role
To implement trading strategies that enhance our approach to trading across Business Development, maximizing advertising revenue, share, and digital revenues into ITV. This includes managing day-to-day trading across offices and key agencies, coordinated by Trading Managers.
Key responsibilities
- Build strong relationships with Trading Managers across major agencies and direct clients.
- Negotiate deals with clients, working with the Trading Controller and Deputy.
- Lead deal negotiations, identify incremental opportunities, and track deal delivery.
- Collaborate closely with the London Trading team on agency deals and trading strategy implementation.
- Contribute to the Trading team in delivering strategic control, insights, and ideas to maximize revenue and share through negotiations.
- Manage, inspire, and develop the Trading Assistant.
- Work collaboratively with Business Development teams across regions and offices.
- Adopt creative and commercial approaches to deliver value, understanding client and agency motivations, challenges, and opportunities.
- Integrate revenue opportunities across platforms and portfolios into negotiations, including digital streams like BVOD, Pause/addressability, and YouTube.
- Support the team in building cases for digital revenue growth and digital performance agency investments, linking efforts across Business Development, Digital, Client Strategy & Planning, and Trading.
- Participate in non-NAR negotiations and commercial proposals when appropriate.
- Manage deal paperwork, revenue management, and reconciliations alongside the Trading Executive.
- Advise and support regional Business Managers/Development Managers on key deals aligned with trading strategies.
- Share best practices across offices to improve trading preparation, insights, strategies, and negotiations.
- Ensure accurate revenue forecasting and efficient deal delivery in collaboration with the Activation Group Head.
- Support on commercial proposals for creative pitches.
- Maintain close relationships with Legal, CRR, Compliance, and Finance teams for regulation, contract management, and budgeting.
Skills you’ll need (minimum criteria)
- Comprehensive knowledge of the TV trading market and other media markets.
- Understanding of all trading parameters, including barter.
- Strong insight into agency and client motivations, challenges, and opportunities.
- Good analytical skills, reporting, and attention to detail.
- Proven track record as a strong negotiator.
